This is the Stated First Edition Foreign Language Press Five Volume set published between the years 1954-1955. Translated from the Chinese text in the three volume second revised edition published 1952-1953. The books are bound in fine maroon cloth with titling in bright gilt on the front covers. Red Star over China stamped in blind on the front covers. Frontis portrait on Mao in each book. The sequence of the volumes is not indicated on the books and is arranged in this listing by dates of publication.The corners and spine caps are lightly worn. Light soiling on the covers.There are chips in the cloth on the spines of the second and fourth volumes. Chips also on the cover of the third book and on the spine edge of the fourth book. The covers of the first and second volumes are bowed. There is light rippling on the pages of the first volume, presumedly from humidity in storage. Foxing on the pages adjacent to the frontis in the fifth volume. There are dates written on the ffes of all five books- Cairo-18 Aug, 65 .
