A beautiful facsimile dust-jacket accompanies this book. Produced from a first impression [1937] issue. It has the price of 8s. 6d. net to the spine as well as stating: This dustjacket is designed by: VANESSA BELL - [Virginia Woolf's Sister]. Green cloth with gilt/gold lettering to the spine. Colour to the spine cloth is darkened more than the front and rear boards in comparison. Soiled with a few scuff marks, mainly to the spine top and bottom and cloth edges. Otherwise a good sturdy condition. The boards remain firmly attached to the page block. All housed beneath the accompanying dustjacket. Very light and minimal foxing. Age browning throughout the 469 pages, but apart from this, the pages are clean. Two very interesting bonus pictures on the inside of the front board. One of Virginia Woolf when she is about 20 years old. She looks so young and beautiful. The second is an image of an old newspaper article headed: "I CANNOT GO ON" - WOMAN WRITER'S SUICIDE - At the inquest at Newhaven, Sussex, to-day, on Mrs. Virginia Woolf, whose body was recovered from the River Ouse near her home at Rodwell last night, a verdict of suicide while the balance of her mind was disturbed was returned. - Then, follows a lot more information about Virginia Woolf and her life etc. Both images are photocopies. Nice overall condition for such a rare and collectible book. - Also have a photocopy of Virginia Woolf's Last will written in 1930 [2 pages] which I will include with the sale. It was only when I got a copy of this will that I saw that her first Christian name was Adeline. - Adeline Virginia Woolf - E N D - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. - Thanks for your interest and I hope you like the book enough to buy it.
