1st ed., oblong octavo, pp.(104), unpaginated, original semi-gloss gilt decorated colour plates with vignettes and initials by Alessandrelli, Razzolini et al, phototype plates laid onto card (recto and verso), bound as album, all edges gilt, patterned eps. with some damage to front and rear paste-downs, bookseller's ticket to front paste-down, first plate lifting, light scattered foxing to a few plates but generally clean, bound in original sheep leather boards The hundred cantos of the Divine Comedy illustrated by the 19th century Iltalian (Tuscan) painter and miniaturalist, Attilio Razzolini and other artists. Originally produced as postcards in Milan by Alfieri and Lacroix in 1902, this volume was published in the same year. The text is transcribed according to the ancient Vulgate in 15th century Gothic characters and illustrated with initials in red, blue and gold depicting medieval miniatures.
