A monthly periodical, first issued 1st June 1866, with a final issue dated 1st June 1867, twelve issues, all published, bound here in two volumes, complete. The magazine focused on 'what is interesting in Nature and admirable in Art' and was a vehicle to demonstrate the use of chromo and photo-lithography accompanying a diverse range of articles. Vol.1 has 39 plates inc. frontis, (heightened in gilt) and 3 plates not called for. Vol.2 has 32 plates, all as called for, with text illus. throughout. pp.252 + 196. Contemporary binding, bevelled covers in ornate blue gilt dec. cloth, with blind stamped lower cover, Vol.1 all edges gilt. In very good condition overall, occasional light spotting mostly to endpapers, corners bumped, top and bottom edge of spines have signs of wear. Additional postage may be required as the two volumes are overweight.
