From the limited edition of 525 sets of which 500 were for sale. Full russet Niger morocco, handmade paper, gilt top, other edges untrimmed as issued, marbled endpapers, royal 8vo, xviii, 449, [1] pp. The Sussex Edition is the finest edition of Kipling's works, sumptuously produced and also containing his final thoughts on the text, having been revised by Kipling in his last years. Kipling died in 1936 and the edition was published posthumously. Complete sets of the 35 volumes are rare and desirable : only 525 sets were produced and many of these were destroyed when the publisher's warehouse was bombed in 1941. Single volumes such as that offered here are in practice still harder to find : we have a handful only of such single volumes and this represents a possibly unrepeatable chance for one admirer of this early collection of his short stories, which first appeared in 1891, to acquire it in the most desirable edition. The contents of this volume are: The Incarnation of Krishna Mulvaney; The Courting of Dinah Shadd; On Greenhow Hill; The Man Who Was; The Head of the District; Without Benefit of Clergy; At the End of the Passage; The Mutiny of the Mavericks; The Mark of the Beast; The Return of Imray; Namgay Doola; The Lang Men O' Larut; Bertran and Bimi; Reingelder and the German Flag; The Wandering Jew; Through the Fire; The Finances of the Gods; The Amir's Homily; Jews in Shushan; The Limitations of Pambé Serang; Little Tobrah; Moti Guj Mutineer; Bubbling Well Road; 'The City of Dreadful Night; Georgie Porgie; Naboth; The Dream of Duncan Parrenness; L'envoi. A little rubbed with some very small scratches to the bodrds board, domr unttrimmed edges darkened or duststained, otherwise Very Good.
