Kipling died in 1936 and the edition was published posthumously. Complete sets of the 35 volumes are rare and desirable : only 525 sets were produced and many of these were destroyed when the publisher's warehouse was bombed in 1941. Single volumes such as that offered here are in practice still harder to find : we have a handful only of such single volumes and this represents a possibly unrepeatable chance for one admirer of this early collection of his short stories, which first appeared in 1891, to acquire it in the most desirable edition.
